How to Sign “Roof” in Sign Language

This is one way to sign roof, if you are referring to a building with a pointed roof. For other types of roofs, you should sign them more similarly to the way they look.

Signing “Roof”

  1. Hand shape: Form both hands into a “closed-5” handshape.
  2. Hand location: Bring both hands in front of your body, palms facing each other.
  3. Movement: Bring both hands to meet in an upward, diagonal direction, symbolizing the top of a roof.
  4. Facial expression: Keep a neutral facial expression.
