How to sign "Role" in Sign Language

When engaging in a conversation about your professional life, particularly with regards to the tasks and responsibilities you undertake at your workplace, the concept of your "role" within the organization is likely to surface. This word, "role", is fundamental in defining your position and the contributions you make to your company. Signing "Role"

  1. Hand Position: Your dominant hand should be in the "R" shape, which is made by crossing the index and middle fingers while the other fingers are closed into your palm. The non-dominant hand should be in a 5-handshape.
  2. Starting Placement: Begin with both hands in front of your body, with the palm facing a horizontal R and the fingers of each hand touching the fingers of the other hand.
  3. Movement: Rotate the dominant hand from the top of the palm to the bottom of the palm.
  4. Facial Expression: A neutral facial expression is typically used for this sign, but it can vary based on the context of your sentence or discussion.

While signed similarly, don't confuse the sign for ROLE for the sign for RULES, in which the R doesn't rotate.
