How To Sign Hello in Sign Language

This is probably one of the most intuitive signs you will learn. Everyone has their own flare of how they may greet, but you can (almost) never go wrong!

Directions for Signing Hello in Sign Language

  1. Hand Position: Open your hand with fingers together and thumb apart from the fingers (similar to a salute).‍
  2. Starting Placement: Place your hand near your forehead, similar to a wave.‍
  3. Movement: Move your hand slightly outward and away from your forehead in a short arc, almost like giving a small wave. The motion is similar to a casual “hello” wave.‍
